Making the seaweed move, with a relatively realistic look, took me longer than it did to make the rest of the emoticon. Seriously... I'll be very happy if I never have to animate anything like that again.

Daily DeviationOne of the hardest things to do on a small canvas like an emoticon is animate disparate elements so they look natural instead of set to a metronomic rhythm. ~parliamentFunk has accomplished this immensely difficult feat perfectly in this piece. the.diver.v2 is also gorgeously drawn and shaded down to the smallest detail, from Jaws to seabed to lone surviving flipper. I think this is awesome. When I first saw it, I said "Crap" because I had an idea that was similiar....but it turns out my idea is still a bit different than yours. Just throwing that out there as I don't want you to accuse me of stealing your idea later. ;) Anyway, I really love what you did...and emote violence always makes me smile. Awesome work, dude!

Funnything... I started with a totally different idea and it just became that. I had this flash back to a scene in "Finding Nemo," where the whale starts as a tiny shadow in the background and slowly approaches behind the two main characters. After that, I never turned back. :XD:

Unfortunately I hardly know a thing about the making of emoticons, though I can point out some details that make this one so great, like the bubble coming from the clam and the guy's flipper falling off. :D I think the animation on that stingray swooping down is awesome too.

Love the finning action and the wiggle on the bubbles :highfive:. The zoom and grab is really smooth!

I'd be tempted to give the seaweed some movement as a reaction to him swimming past.

And I can totally sympathise with *SparklyDest, it sucks when you think of something then find someone else has already done it!
